Description
The exhibition entitled "Roads to Freedom" was first
arranged to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the August Agreement in well-famous BHP Hall of the Gdansk Shipyard. The place invariably evokes both historic and symbolic associations among the Poles. It was here, at the Gdańsk Shipyard, where the system then seemingly unshaken was vetoed in 1980. For the coastal region the Yard suddenly became the haven of freedom. The spirit infected the entire country. Its call spread on making Poland the centre of influence over Eastern Europe. Back in 1980 Gdansk, Poland, triggered the process of dismantling communism, which ultimately brought freedom to many countries of the Central and Eastern Europe. 20 years later, the site so unmistakably associated with "Solidarity" both in Poland and the world was selected as the location for a multimedia exhibition to tell the story of this milestone event in the most recent Polish history. The "Roads to Freedom" exhibition has continued on the Shipyard estate since 31st August 2000. The famous postulates scribbled on plywood boards that were hung over the gate to the Gdansk Shipyard on 28th August 1980 are now displayed in the historic hall where the "August Agreement" was signed. The boards have been entered into the UNESCO "World Memory List".
In the last few weeks and months in fact we have been very busy organising trips for many many groups. And we didn't have much time to update some things on our website.
In the last few weeks situation on Polish currency market has been very unstable but for the tourist from EU this is a good news – everything’s much cheaper here in Poland.
