A BETTER WAY TO SEE LIGHTHOUSES…
There is no more wonderful experience than photographing, and whenever possible, climbing a lighthouse. As you count the steps to the top, you can picture what it must have been like to live the life of a lighthouse keeper. With each lighthouse you visit comes a better understanding of the special circumstances that surrounded keeping the light burning. You’ll develop an appreciation for each lighthouse and discover what makes each light special. Lighthouses were built in locations to act as navigational aids, not for the convenience of the lighthouse lover who wants to visit them. Many are found in remote locations on both land and at sea or are active military installations, making them inaccessible to the general public. Another possible limitation to your lighthouse hunting experience occurs when accessible lighthouses are only open seasonally and for a limited number of hours. But not to worry, JOYTRIP and The Lighthouse Society design lighthouse tours to overcome all obstacles faced by lighthouse enthusiasts so that the experience will be an exciting and fulfilling one . . . simply put, a better way to see lighthouses.

THE LIGHTHOUSE SOCIETY
The Lighthouse Society is a non-profit historical and educational organization incorporated to educate, inform, and entertain those who are interested in lighthouses, past and present.
The Lighthouse Society has been the proud recipient of numerous awards including those for Historic Preservation, the Department of the Transportation Award for Outstanding Public Service and Historic Preservation, and the Lighthouse Coordinating Committee's prestigious
Founders Award. Additionally, The Lighthouse Society has donated funds to important lighthouse restoration projects world wide, and has successfully restored and opened to the public a historic Lightship. Modern technology has doomed the classic lighthouse. Most lighthouses around the globe have now been automated and, in the process, has eliminated the need for operating personnel. Sterile, rotating aero-beacons on monopoles have replaced many proud coastal ladies of former years with their sweeping towers of brick and unique architecture.
In selected cases, nations around the world are licensing some formerly manned and discontinued light station to qualified groups.
Many of the light stations considered no longer functional have been transferred to various local communities, counties or nonprofit groups and are now serving as museums, vacation rentals or youth hostels.
Although the almost 500-year-old era of manned light stations has come to a close, those remaining symbols of our maritime heritage can, and should be, preserved for the enjoyment of future generations. With this in mind, The Lighthouse Society was founded to assist in the restoration and preservation of lighthouses and to help qualified groups in their efforts to return lighthouses to the public domain.
In the last few weeks and months in fact we have been very busy organising trips for many many groups. And we didn't have much time to update some things on our website.
In the last few weeks situation on Polish currency market has been very unstable but for the tourist from EU this is a good news – everything’s much cheaper here in Poland.
